Accelerating Carbon Removal for 2050 and Beyond

Climate is a long game. At CDR.fyi, we are committed to accelerating carbon removal for decades to come. Today, we’re announcing three initiatives to ensure CDR.fyi’s sustainability while continuing to deliver the transparency and trust needed for the carbon removal market to scale and meet our planetary net zero goals.

First, CDR.fyi is now officially a Public Benefit Corporation (PBC). As a PBC, we are legally obligated to balance profit with our core mission: accelerating carbon removal. We believe this structure is the best way to support our dual commitment to environmental and financial sustainability.

Second, co-founder Alex Rink will assume the role of CDR.fyi’s CEO. Alex brings over 20 years of entrepreneurial experience in founding and scaling SaaS, data, and market intelligence companies. Many in the CDR community already know Alex through his numerous conversations with market participants and his presentations at industry events.

Third, many have asked how they can support the CDR.fyi mission of accelerating carbon removal. Over the last year, we’ve been working with partners to develop a suite of data products and content to help accelerate the growth of carbon removal, including:

• The CDR.fyi Portal, enabling suppliers to showcase their profiles, locations, and growth, while allowing market participants to filter data.
• The CDR.fyi API for seamless data integrations.
• Expanded durable carbon removal market analysis and insights.

Climate and carbon removal is a long game. Over the last 200 years, we have collectively deposited 1.7 trillion tonnes of excess carbon dioxide into our atmosphere, a number that continues to grow at a rate of around 40 billion tonnes per year. There is no quick fix, no easy solution. Achieving net zero by 2050, and interim targets by 2030 and 2040, means getting up every day and doing the work to secure the future we know is possible for our planet.
