Climate and carbon removal is a long game. Over the last 200 years, we have collectively deposited 1.7 trillion tonnes of excess carbon dioxide into our atmosphere, a number that continues to grow at a rate of around 40 billion tonnes per year. There is no quick fix, no easy solution. Achieving net zero by 2050, and interim targets by 2030 and 2040, means getting up every day and doing the work to secure the future we know is possible for our planet.
At CDR.fyi, our mission is to accelerate carbon removal, an essential element of achieving net zero. To that end, we partner with CDR participants to ensure accurate, trusted reporting for purchases, deliveries, and verifications and, ultimately, bring transparency and accountability to the durable carbon removal market. Learn more about our methodology here.
CDR.fyi was launched as an open-source project in 2022 by Robert Höglund and Kevin Niparko and supported by contributors attracted to the cause, including Chris Nixon. In 2023, Alex Rink and Tank Chen joined the cause. In 2024 CDR.fyi became a Delaware Public Benefit Corporation (PBC), with Alex stepping into the CEO role. We chose a PBC structure for the legal requirement to balance profit with our mission of accelerating carbon removal.
We are a global and purpose-driven team that has come together from a shared conviction that transparency is a critical prerequisite for scaling carbon removal.
We all have a role in this mission. Let’s accelerate carbon removal, together.
